One of my all-time favorite places to eat in Atlanta is a small meat-and-three joint called Carver's Country Kitchen. It's a very unassuming place on West Marietta Street, and if you blink you'll miss it. Well, I never missed it. Until now.
The last time I was there was back in November or December of last year (2011). I hate the fact that I haven't been back since then.
Especially since Mr. Carver is no longer with us.
Back in March, Mr. Carver passed-away after losing the battle with cancer.
Regardless, hearing the news of his passing inspired me to look through my archives of photos and pull one out that I took of him back in June of 2009. I was there with a couple of friends and happened to have my camera with me. As we were leaving, I snapped a picture of Mr. Carver as he sat behind the cash register.
I'll be hand-delivering this shot, specifically a 12 x 12 float-mounted metal print, as soon as it arrives on my doorstep.
For those of you that have never been to Carver's, I urge you to go check it out. Unfortunately, Mr. Carver won't be there to ring you up and wish you a good day, but hopefully my print will be there in his honor!
