Funny how things happen. A few weeks ago, I was surfing the web and ran across a fellow photog's blog, and he mentioned that he got a chance to see a band that he'd been hearing a lot about lately. He included a gallery of photos that he took from the event, so I followed the link and checked them out. Immediately upon seeing the pictures, I knew right away that I was going to love the band - Fitz & The Tantrums. I went immediately to their website and besides being able to hear a few of their songs and watch a video or two, more importantly I saw that they were coming to St. Louis in a few weeks!! Long story short, I emailed their management company and asked for a photo pass to their show in the Duckroom at Blueberry Hill. Within an hour or two, I had heard back from them, and I was told my photo pass would be waiting for me at the door! Wow....not only was that fast....but it seemed a bit easy....perhaps too easy.
Fast forward to the night of the show, I tried a few times to call Blueberry Hill to confirm that my photo pass was indeed there, but I could never get through to anyone. So I took a leap of faith and just showed up. Oh...and the part I forgot to mention is that I waited until the day of the show to try and buy my ticket, and the show was sold out. So now I was really taking a leap of faith....hoping that the photo pass would actually be there, and more importantly, that it would also get me in without needing a ticket.
After standing in line for almost 45 minutes, I got to the door and as luck would have it (for once), I saw my name on the list. They had NOT forgotten about me, and my photo pass actually got me into the show. Oh, and just in case you're wondering what a photo pass at Blueberry Hill looks like, here you go:
The show was absolutely incredible, and I took a ton of photos. But I'll save all that for a later post. Just thought I'd share the photo pass story for now. Stay tuned...!
