On my way back home to Atlanta yesterday, I was just on the outskirts of St. Louis on I-64 when I noticed this huge building on the other side of the highway. It was enormous and from my point of view seemed like it was just a few feet from the highway. It really intrigued me, so I took the next exit I came to and circled back through the neighborhood and found it. I parked under the overpass, grabbed my gear and walked up to it. I couldn't really tell what kind of building it was, and I also had no idea if it was vacant or not. Although I was tempted to try and find a way inside, I decided to just get some shots of it from the outside. I didn't have a good feeling about the neighborhood, and I was also pressed for time. So I set-up my tripod just on the other side of the train tracks and got to work.
When it came time to name this post, "Big Ben" kept coming to mind. I know this is an old building and not a bell at the top of a clock tower, but for some reason it just stuck in my mind. At any rate, if you're ever leaving St. Louis on I-64, look off to your left after you pass by the Arch and cross the river. You can't miss it.
